A bit of a catch up on my posts thanks to Lockdown 3.0
This shoot was gifted to this family as a First birthday gift in January 2020. Bree (mum to Maggie) seemed stoked to start planning our shoot once Mags had a bit more confidence on her wobbly legs. Then COVID-19 hit and our shoot got postponed a countless amount of times. We took it in our stride and eventually got to shoot almost a year later.
Maggie was definitely more confident on her feet and had us all in stitches at her sassy little personality.
Due to COVID restrictions (and my personal preference), we opted for an outdoor shoot in the Williamstown Botanic Gardens. It was a magical day for lighting and although a tad chilly & wet for a November morning, we embraced the opportunity to capture some real life memories. We captured silly, intimate, family moments of play, cuddles, tickles & dancing – which is so beautiful for an outsider to see and even more so, an honour for me to shoot.
Near the end of our time together, Bree & Glenn asked if they could please sneak in a few photos with one of Maggie’s close friends. Of course I was more than happy to oblige. Stevie joined us for a few minutes of laughter & play. Her parents weren’t too keen on being in any of the photos but something Bree said to them has stuck with me to this day. She said “I don’t care what you look like, this is us. These photos are for US.” Those few words are a reminder to live in the moment more often – people will always judge, it’s up to you to care or not. (HINT: the latter is way more fun!)

Then…at the end, I said, “Hey Bree & Glenn, when last have the two of you had a photo taken together – just the two of you?” Bree replied with “I can’t even remember.” So I asked them to have a little cuddle & it took all of 30 seconds for Bree to get emotional and an “overwhelming feeling of love” and Glenn to go “HUH?”.
